Busy Code

Designed to be a lead into Scratch, Busy Code is an engaging introduction to coding for young children between the ages of 6 to 11. It provides a brilliant solution for both teachers, parents and children who are completely new to programming. Each concept is introduced by an interactive step-by-step tutorial and followed up by a game to test out the new skills and concepts learnt.
Featuring a funky bearded character that can be programmed to dance, collect stars and more, children will enjoy learning basic programming whilst developing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

How Busy Code Works
Each activity consists of a series of challenges or tasks. Children must code a short program to direct Beard Man in completing the challenge. Programs are created by linking blocks together. The blocks snap together like jigsaw pieces. Once they have assembled a sequence of blocks into a program, children can run it by pressing the Play button. They can watch as Beard Man follows the program they have written. If he completes the challenge correctly, they will move on to the next task. If he does not, they can adjust their program and try again.
Children should be encouraged to try running their programs to see what happens. They should not always expect to get it right the first time! Testing a program, seeing what goes wrong and then fixing the problem is a very important and fun part of coding.
