Typing Tournament

Typing Tournament teaches the vital skill of touch typing and enhances keyboard skills.  teaches the vital skill of touch typing and enhances keyboard skills.

It uses a unique combination of mastery learning, teaching sequences and games to motivate both children and adults. Users are actively guided through typing activities for optimal learning and ensures that they are using the right fingers on the right key.

How Typing Tournament Works

Typing Tournament progresses through 16 levels each introducing four keys with a lesson, practice keys, three drills, three games and a progress test that are all directly linked to the mastered and introduced keys.

Progress through the 16 levels is based on a revolutionary Multiple Progressions Model that assumes that mastery of existing keys must be demonstrated before new keys are introduced. As users progress through the levels the required typing speed increases and muscle memory critical for typing success is developed.

Special On-Screen Keyboard

Cleverly solves the serious issues arising from the non-standard, soft, on-screen keyboards typically used by mobile computing devices.

Uniquely, Typing Tournament substitutes its own, specially created onscreen keyboard with standard layout.

Home Row Trigger

Users are directed to place their fingers on the home row keys and then press any key to start drills and tests. This unique feature promotes awareness of finger positioning and builds key muscle memory

Powerful Reporting

Powerful reports easily reflect progress. The reports enable detailed analysis of questions answered. Teachers can relate progress to curriculum outcomes.

  • Incisive week-by-week and Level-based             progress reports
    • Print class and student progress reports
    • Export data for analysis

Huge 128 Lesson, Drill, Game and Test Progression

Typing Tournament Online is arranged into 16 rooms or Levels each of which sequentially introduces new keys or strengthens skills. Each Level contains 8 separate didactic elements including a Lesson, a Practice Focus Keys section, 3 Drills, 2 Games and an Exit Test.

    Guided Progress and Auditory Support

In each Level typists are systematically guided through the Lesson, Practise of Focus Keys, Drills and Test. Auditory support helps children use the right fingers on the right keys. The texts for Levels 1, 2, and 3 are spoken slowly to facilitate engagement of younger typist. Once passed, users have the freedom to repeat any Lesson, Drill or Game from any active Level to strengthen their typing skill

    Context Variable Speed Goals

Home users can vary their overall speed goals from 22 to 48 words per minute (WPM).

School children start in Level 1 at 7 WPM allowing early success and build to 22 WPM by Level 16. The Level specific speed goal can be exceeded at any time with higher speeds recognised and rewarded, building motivation to type even faster.
